Deciding which round of grants to apply for depends on when your project will take place.
The Board policy does not permit retroactive funding of projects. If your project happens before the granting decision date, the application will be ineligible. Since projects must happen within 12 months of receiving a grant, timing the application to an earlier round ensures that the deadline criteria is met.
If your project will take place between January 1 and June 30, apply for the Fall round of the preceding year (September deadline).
If your project will take place between July 1 and December 31, apply for the Spring round of the current year (March deadline).
Maria is applying for funding for a choral performance that will take place in April 2018. She must submit her completed application for the Fall 2017 round, due in early September.
Meanwhile, Tony is writing and directing a play that will have its first performance in July 2018. He must submit his completed application for the Spring 2018 round, due in early March.
Finding sources of grants and
writing grant applications is a skill that can be learned and improved
The Region of Waterloo Arts Fund's board of directors is hosting an Open House for grant applicants in advance of the fall 2017 round. This will be an informal drop-in where board members will be available to share general information about the fund, its mandate and will welcome feedback. More information is available here.
